6. Bealach a Mhàim

An old drovers route linking Sligachan and Glenbrittle, this route is popular with hikers heading for Glenbrittle campsite and hillwalkers wishing to undertake one of the easier Munroes of the Cuillin range, Bruach na Frithe.

Confusion as to what was footpath and what was forestry firebreak at the Glenbrittle end had resulted in a multitude of braiding and alternative lines.

At the Sligachan end, poor drainage had resulted in trampling damage to an area of moorland identified as being of significant scientific importance.

Work was undertaken in 1997 to remedy these problems involving cross path drainage measures and path re-alignment.

Further work was carried out in 2007 as part of the EAGGF funded project. This concentrated on a section of the footpath from the cairn at the bealach down towards the forestry block on the Glenbrittle end. The work was undertaken by Highland Conservation services and focused mainly on cross path drainage and resurfacing.
