3. Coire na Banachdich
The start of this route was the original path into the Cuillin from Glenbritttle before the campsite opened and is still regularly used as a means of access to the main ridge. Near the start of path the impressive Eas Mor waterfall comes into view, beyond which the path runs alongside the gorges and waterfalls of the Banachdich burn.
Extensive braiding and vegetation damage is evident at the start of this route which is shared with the original path to Coire Lagan. Once it leaves the main path, the width of damage becomes less but considerably more boggy due to poor drainage with the added problem of alternative routes developing, probably due to more direct line used for descent.
With Heritage Lottery funding all the problem sections of this path were tackled in the winter of 2002, blocking and landscaping out braids at the start and, further up, re-aligning the original burnside path in such a way as to make it an easier and quicker descent than the aforementioned alternative routes.
