5. Coire na Creiche

The famous waterpipe gully, a cleft on the face of Sgurr an Fheadain at the end of this route, dominates the view of the Black Cuillin from this path as it crosses the floor of Glenbrittle. As the path begins to climb alongside the Allt Coir a' Mhadaidh, the river is characterised by a series of pools, gullies and waterfalls known as the fairy pools and is a popular destination on warm days for swimming and picnics.

Poor drainage due to a shallow down path and cross path gradient had resulted in wide areas of this path becoming extremely boggy, where trampling either side of the original line has led to damage of vegetation and loss of root structure.

The first phase of the work up to the crossing at Allt Coir a' Mhadaidh was completed in 1999. With Heritage Lottery Funding a second phase completed the repair work in 2001.
