11. Sgurr Dearg
This route branches off from the Coire Lagan (north) footpath and heads directly for Sgurr Dearg. It is a popular walkers and climbers offering a direct route to the famous inaccessible pinnacle, probably the most challenging summit of any Munro in the country.
No previous repair work had been carried out here until 2006/2007
when this route was included in the EAGGF project and the contract
was undertaken by Innes Hutton for Tillhill. One of the main problems
to overcome was the very wet ground conditions that had led to multiple
braiding and erosion scar and also the lack of any suitable stone for
construction in the vicinity of the path led to stone being gathered
from elsewhere on the hill and lifted to the site by helicopter.
