15. Glenshiel

This old stalkers path was characterised by a series of extremely waterlogged and boggy sections where the old drainage features had failed. Widespread trampling damage to surrounding vegetation was evident as walkers attempted to skirt round the mud.

The first phase of repair work was undertaken in 2000, with a second phase funded by Heritage Lottery Funding completed in 2002. Many fine old stone culverts and fords were discovered under years of silt and vegetation build up, and in most instances were able to be restored to their original purpose.
